The New Girl

She's here! I had actually talked myself into the fact that i would go over my due date so much that i had trouble believing i was actually in labor, or that shes actually here. My water broke at 12:45am. We had sadly gone to bed at 12:30(isnt that always the way it happens, ugh) and we were wishing we had gone to bed at seven so we wouldnt start this out being COMPLETELY  exhausted, but oh well. Nine hours of labor and I got my epidural. I dilated from a 4 to a 10 in fifteen mins and she came out in about 5-10mins of pushing. Total awesomeness compared to labor with Emma. Jenny is doing awesome and we're so glad to have her safely here. We named her while we were literally walking out the door because the charge nurse said we couldn't leave until we did, which is total bologna by the way. But I let her say it just to put enough pressure on Kallam to make a decision.

Emma loved her from the moment they met. Sometimes she loves her a little too much.We feel like a broken record sometimes.
"she's sleeping, don't bother her" "you're hugging too hard"
And Emma pretty much wants to hold her all the time.

Or snuggle with her on the couch.

I  was so lucky to have our favorite newborn photographer Kylie Pond come all the way up here from the valley to take a photo shoot of our new family member, especially with crazy Emma running around the room like a crazy person. I'm glad she has family up here, and therefore reasons to come up. As you will see, Emma and Jenny are definitely siblings. You can see the similarities, but we also are thinking Jenny will definitely have her own features too. Enjoy!

4D ultrasound

Our friend found out that early on the ultrasound tech only gave us a 60% chance that it was a girl as an answer to what the sex was, so she gifted us a 4D ultrasound to find out for sure. She thought it would help us in our current failed attempts at deciding on names....she might be hoping for too much. But it was great fun! We had wanted to have it done with Emma, but it was just not in the budget. It was in fact a girl, so at least we wont be in a scramble, and it makes me feel better just to know. Here are some of the pictures from it. Usually people get these done months ago, so things were squished and the pictures they can capture are limited to mostly the face. This girl likes to cuddle with her umbilical cord though, so it was a little blocked. But I cant do it justice as to how cool it is to see her open her eyes and move around, just like we were watching a video camera. It just looks like a baby, but it definitely made things feel real. Just 10 days to go!!!

Family Maternity Shoot

We are not ones for getting maternity photos. I don't feel my loveliest when i'm literally about to pop. Even posting these photos makes me nervous cause i'm just massive. We also typically think they are kinda silly, because you get them done and in ten mins everything about the picture has changed. BUT...when your favorite photographer that you love to take your family photos is moving to Denver in a week and she tells you that if you can get down to buffalo park at the end of someone else's session that she is doing you can have a 15min mini session of your own, you just do it. You just put on a maxi dress and dress Emma in the car and get down there. That being said, I LOVED how these came out, even if the biggest challenge of the day was to get Emma's fingers out of her nose for 5 seconds. UGH. Enjoy for ten mins before our family changes again.
:)

I'm so grateful we got a chance at another photo shoot in the beautiful place that we live in.

The Big Climb

I, Kallam, have always wanted to hike from the bottom of Mt. Elden to Humphrey's Peak. I decided that it would be this year so I invited some people and hoped that someone would say yes. Two people agreed and so I started to make the plans. I started to look at the trails to see about how far it would be. After adding everything up the grand total would be about 23 miles! We started early in the morning (6:45, not as early as I would have liked) on the Elden Lookout Trail which is 2.9 miles and climbs 2,300 ft. After that was the easy part of the trail before we started to climb again. The views were amazing and it was a very long day but we made it back. It was about 9 pm before we made it to the Snowbowl Parking lot where Kayla was waiting to pick us up. Here are just a few pictures that I took with my phone along the way.
