Beach Front Property in Colorado

You may think that Colorado does not have a beach, you would be wrong. :) A couple weekends ago our Canon City friends who are practically professional campers talked us into joining them on their yearly Sand dunes trip. Sand Dunes National Park? In Colorado? Why have I never heard of this place? Its about 2.5 hours south of us, which is why I was so surprised since it was much closer to AZ than I thought it would be if I had never heard of it. It was amazing. A desert with a super shallow but wide river running at the base....and all at the base of a huge mountain covered with snow. Its just three things that happen in nature but not typically together in the same mile radius. It was one of the most unique and beautiful places i've ever been. It was almost better than any California beach that I had grown up with because the water was warm, the sand was SO soft and fine, and there was no tide or waves that you could die in, and no seaweed to get caught in. I would DEFINITELY recommend it! And round here its what people do with their snow boards in the "off season". The only downside is that most of the time you're only allowed on the sand dunes in the mornings, because the sand can reach 150 degrees and start burning people in the afternoons. Camping was great too, until I had to try and sleep. My family slept totally fine, I on the other hand just cant stop feeling vulnerable in a tent enough to get more than 2 hours. But I like the fire and nature parts. Maybe someday I will get better at it, and I wont have to pee every hour, that will help.

Here you can see what i'm talking about when I say its a desert at the base of a mountain.

Jenny was like IN HEAVEN in this giagantic sandbox. It just felt so good to her. But these pictures also play with your eyes a little and she looks like a giant baby with miniature people around her.

Kallam really got his work out in for the day dragging the girls back up the hill, cause I sure wasn't gonna do it.

Emma thought the river was the happiest place on earth, and loved the sinking that kinda happens similar to but less clay like than the Winslow river experience.

Only in Colorado would we ever be at a beach at 9,000ft where it was also snowing HA! Not cold at camp, but you could see it happening on the top of the mountain we were camping on.

Our tent view each night

And the last night we actually left around 7 at night so the girls could sleep all the way home. But we at least expected them to get out of the campground before they fell asleep!!! We put them in the car and gathered up the last few things for literally 3 mins and they were already out! Kallam and I enjoyed the longest date all the way home talking to each other without any interruptions.
